Saffron Milk 藏红花牛奶

  • 1 cup (or 240 ml) of milk
  • ¼ teaspoon of turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon of ginger
  • 2 to 3 strands of saffron
  • Honey to taste (optional)


  1. Start by warming 1/3 of the milk using a milk warmer or a saucepan, ensuring it doesn’t come to a boil.
  2. To the warm milk, incorporate turmeric, ginger, and saffron. Stir the mixture thoroughly, allowing the ingredients to meld.
  3. In a separate pan, heat the remaining milk over medium heat for about 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. Pour the contents from the milk warmer or saucepan (with the turmeric, ginger, and saffron) into the pan with the rest of the milk.
  5. Once done, transfer the combined milk into a cup and, if desired, add 1 or 2 teaspoons of honey for sweetness.
